David Olson, 35
Growing up in a big family, everyone seems to have their own agenda so getting together is a treat. Chef David Olson’s family found time to get together at the dinner table. That’s where his passion for food began, growing up in gastronomic places such as New York, Hawaii and North Carolina, helping out in the kitchen to prepare meals as a young kid. He has since spent over half his life working in the food industry. Starting out as a dishwasher at the age of 14 he worked his way through high school and college in North Carolina waiting tables, cooking and of course bar tending. After college he went on to attend the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York where he graduated with honors in the top five in his class. Upon graduation Chef David spent five years traveling the country working for some of the best chefs in America including Dean Fearing and Gray Kunz. Eventually settling out west, Chef David spent the last several years running restaurants in Park City, Utah and as a Chef Instructor at the Culinary School of the Rockies in Boulder, Colorado before becoming the Company Chef for Fischer Productions. David was elected to the Star Chefs of Utah for 2003, has published recipes in Gourmet Magazine and is working on his Certified Sommelier Exam from the acclaimed Court of Master Sommeliers.
Chef David and his wife Heidi now live in Park City, Utah where, aside from cooking, enjoy fishing, hunting, climbing, skiing, riding dirt bikes and just plain having fun.
