MV Ocean Off Malibu, CA

A few weeks ago, MV Ocean, was just off of Malibu catching and tagging juvenile great white sharks. Somewhat of an urban research trip, where sunset boulevard could be seen from the ship, the Crew tagged and successfully released 4 great white sharks in 30 feet of water.

Pinas Bay, Panama Trip

The inshore fishing in Pinas Bay, Panama trip was outrageous. The Crew released 12 roosterfish all at about 60 lbs. each. 6 of which Melissa reeled in herself.

The operation is in transit to Miami where it will reside for the next month. Don't be fooled by the new color of the ship if you see it docked in one of the marinas.

Panama!

I can't get the Van Halen song out of my head. Yeah it feels so good to be back in Panama. After a long period in Mexico of so/so weather and generally cold water the 85 degree air and upper 80's water temperature of Panama was very welcomed. We ended up with a great trip which started out very rough. I won't spoil the adventure but believe me whatever could go wrong did. After smoothing out the bumps the bite was on and the dives were the best in a long time, with a few firsts for some of the crew. If you've never been to Central America and could only go to one spot I would say Panama for sure. The vast island chains are some of the most beautiful places I've been and they hold an abundance of sea life. The anticipation of the new journey ahead is building. We are just around the corner from starting our big trip and the crew is ready. If the last several months are any indication of what we're going to experience going around the world then erase everything you've seen about fishing and freediving because it's about to be rewritten. Stay tuned for our Panama expedition which will air in the Spring.

New Name of Ship Unveiled

After months of deliberation, Sarah Fischer was the one who definitively named the mother ship... which will now be called "OCEAN." The "GO FISCH" is now officially transferred to the 45ft Cabo.

Fischer Productions just returned from a trip to Guadalupe Island where they tagged White Sharks with Real Time SPOT TAGS. The tags are drilled into the dorsal fin and instantly transmit information each time the shark is close enough to the surface of the water. This type of REAL TIME tagging has never been done before in studying White Sharks and was largely possible due to the mother ship's hydraulic lift capability.
